Assassin's Creed Reveals Surprising AoT Crossover for Holiday Season

In a bizarre crossover event that defies usual forecasts, Ubisoft has revealed an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event runs from November 25 through December 22, including no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Adventure Disclosed

According to the formal release, "An unusual encounter pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original mission, where hints of forbidden rituals and fearsome changes reverberate through the obscurity." The plot introduces a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a clandestine sect.

The mission concentrates on "peculiar trials and a monstrous enemy" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Familiar Settings and Transformations

The preview features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer ends with a powerful sequence showing a character, probably the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Items and Extra Material

Players who finish the mission will obtain an unique katana in addition to numerous objects secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Exclusive weapons
• Survey Corps mount

Latest Free Story Addition

This patch also adds the game's newest free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This playful adventure teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive techniques: Naoe debuts a dramatic version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime properties. The series earlier showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla subtly featured a quest that obviously referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
