Stateside actor Pat Finn, who was seen in popular programs such as "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed aged 60.

The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles recently following treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, according to news outlets.

"Pat saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he hadn't encountered," his family stated in a message.

They continued that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with zest and passion".

A Prolific Career on Screen

His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.

He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, portraying a social organizer who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he had guest spots on several popular shows, including:

  • King of Queens
  • "Friends"
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

His most famous role for portraying the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight series from 2011 to 2018.

His work in movies are It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Beyond his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was part of a six-member improv team called Beer Shark Mice.

"Pat coached, befriended and mentored countless students throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find anyone who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.

Paying homage, peer Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," he shared on social media.

The actor is leaves behind his wife Donna, his children, and his family.
