Both Deceased Students Revealed in Brown University Incident as Law Enforcement Persist in Search for Killer.

The pair of scholars who died in Saturday’s violent attack on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – amid a widespread hunt for their killer persisted following the freeing by authorities in Rhode Island of the sole person of interest in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was remembered as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a gathering on Sunday.

Her role included the vice-presidency of Brown’s division of the College Republicans organization, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also expressed words of sorrow publicly, saying in part: “It's indescribable. Thinking of her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The second fatality was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the renowned school, his family confirmed.

His name was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He possessed remarkable kindness, humor, and intelligence. His ambitions were lofty of entering the field of neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a online post.

The Shooting Incident

Nine other people were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-man detained in a raid at a hotel about 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was released from custody.

“We have a murderer out there,” stated Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you have to regroup and pursue a different angle, and that is the current situation over the last day or so.”

Public Fear

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “We know that this is likely to cause fresh anxiety for our city”.

The shooter began shooting inside a lecture hall in the engineering facility on Saturday afternoon, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a 9mm pistol, a police source informed the Associated Press.

Officers that raided the inn recovered two firearms and two ammunition clips when the person of interest was taken into custody, as was reported.

Those Hurt

Among those wounded, a single scholar was discharged from care, mentioned Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in critical but stable condition, and one was in critical condition, authorities stated on Sunday.

Durham Academy, a independent school in the city of Durham, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was among those critically wounded.

Additional Memorials

Cook was honored at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A reverend stated, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only here growing up... but at Brown she was an incredible light in that particular place as well.”

A group leader, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the club. “Ella was known for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she served her chapter and other students,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by the passing of Umurzokov in a message. “Our profound condolences go out to the Umurzokov family, companions, and peers and grieve for of his potential.”
