"Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his partner Catalina and his loved ones."
Kneeland was selected by Dallas with the 56th selection of the 2024 draft after his college career for Western Michigan.
His representative, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart breaks" for the passing of a player who "gave his all" into each opportunity.
"I watched him fight his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a goal to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley said.
The NFL said it is "profoundly grieved" by the tragic event.
