NFL 2025 season: Week six
Real-time updates includes text commentary of Sunday's games via multiple platforms, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, radio commentary can be heard through designated networks covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).
We're in the sixth week of the NFL season , after recent talk regarding two top teams as possible championship contenders, they both lost their perfect starts.
Striking in those games was the number of infractions both conceded. The Eagles committed them at crucial times so they essentially beat themselves after leading by two touchdowns going into the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, set to play in London this weekend.
However it proved positive to observe how Denver quarterback the rookie was able to overcome the shortfall before lead three successful possessions on three possessions during the final period, securing the victory 21-17.
The Broncos boast the defensive player of the year with CB Pat Surtain II. They rank first in red zone defence, while the Eagles lead the league in scoring near the end zone, and the Broncos prevailed in that contest.
They executed the Eagles' number in terms of simulated pressure. They did not always sending more than four pass rushers but they could plug two LBs in the 'A' gap before withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel off the edge.
Early on in the campaign, we said on a program that Denver could be this season's dark horses. They finished last season strongly then did a good job of building upon that.
Could Denver be this season's dark horses?
New tight end their tight end has excelled significantly while recent running back JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He now ranks 5th in the NFL for rushing yards (over 400) and tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).
I love that head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUN IT!" at the top on his call sheet.
That shows that Denver represent a squad that wants to prioritize the run, since one can achieve much off the back of that. It slows opposing rushes while keeps you in positive situations.
This has benefited quarterback Bo Nix, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick last year, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 in 2020).
Other elite QBs have the arm strength to throw all over, however they lack in the same way that Nix has. He has incredible arm talent, which is different, plus he is so athletic.
His strengths are his mobility, the capacity to pass while moving, and using varied release points to make the pass as he moves out of the pocket, on rollouts. He is able to deliver that layered pass across the middle and over the corner.
As a rookie QB, aged 25, he displays great composure in the pocket and isn't bothered by the blitz. He aims to evade a sack whenever possible and can throw under pressure. He has a high football IQ and is quick to decide.
When you consistently run the ball it consumes the clock and forces the defence to stay in play extended periods, and when you've got an athletic quarterback the defence has to defend the field vertically side to side. It can be draining.
Nix has bitten back at Payton during games sometimes and I think the coach likes that attitude, that he's a fierce rival. In my view it's exciting for the coach to have a rookie QB that is similar to play-dough. He can truly develop him how he desires to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for the coach.
Payton has won a championship and has passed a legend in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the success the Broncos are having offensively is largely due to his guidance, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the pairing with the QB aids shape him what he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to help you during some of the tougher situations and build confidence.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. But is the team strong enough to face an elite team at full strength? Since that was not a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.
Right now, I don't think the Broncos are incredible. They're performing above average, that's a solid position to hold their division. All they need to do is maintain this path.
They excel at embracing their forte, that is the ground game, and that's exactly what they should do against the Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.
New York have allowed 140 rushing yards each contest (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (10th worst), and they are the sole squad without a win a game.
Since the league started recording turnovers decades ago, this team are also the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway through five games, which is kind of shocking considering that the head coach was previously defensive co-ordinator with another team.
The Chiefs' QB says Kansas City are off to a poor start following Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.
After the upcoming matchup, the Broncos have a manageable slate until their bye (in week twelve) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans and Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Chiefs.
Looking at their division, the Chiefs hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge at leading the West.
This hinges on which form Kansas City shows up they face since the Broncos {beat|def
