The debutant Tested against Albania’s biggest threat through their forward. Started more centrally to begin with but moved out wide after Saka was introduced. Seven

The defender Pushed forward on the ball, as he has done before. On occasion was too casual when carrying play with the experiment discontinued after the break. Six

The tall defender A constant threat on corners and free-kicks, typically, perhaps is a replacement for Stones at the back as opposed to paired with him. One wayward pass in the second half nearly resulted in the first goal from the visitors. 6

Nico O’Reilly One more confident showing from the 20-year-old following his first cap against another side. A teammate failed to make the opportunity from a gorgeous touch behind the Albania defence. His position is firmly his at this stage. 7/10

The newcomer His maiden beginning with the national team. Slightly careless in possession but his inswinging set-pieces were a threat. An effective game manager available to the manager to call upon against sides that sit back. Booked after a reckless challenge. Six

Declan Rice Deliveries from dead balls and free kicks created chances. Had freedom to move down the left flank only to be offside when the ball arrived in shooting positions. Awarded a deserved substitution on the hour mark. 6/10

Jude Bellingham Operated in a high role down the right and did plenty of defensive duties. Showed flashes of quality and dragged a shot over. Replaced towards the end by Rogers, his competition, after receiving a caution. Seven

The winger Was presented with the team's clearest opportunity in the opening period, his shot well saved by the opposing goalkeeper. With Quansah holding position, he had to stretch the play down the right side but his crosses into the box were hit and miss. Substituted with 15 to go. Six

Harry Kane The decisive figure scoring seventy-seventh and seventy-eighth strikes at international level. His first a trademark opportunist's goal and his next an excellent headed goal following a clever run off his defender. At 32, he’s only getting better and England have every chance in the upcoming tournament with him leading the line. Eight

The attacker Found it tough to make an impact from the left. Was presented with a presentable chance when set up from a teammate but the keeper kept it out. His replacement produced a bigger effect after coming on. 5

• Bukayo Saka (for the winger at the 63-minute mark) Spurned chances yet his delivery provided the opener, 6
