Three Named as Finalists for Young Sports Star Prize

England footballer Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and cricketer Davina Perrin have been selected as contenders for the 2025 Young Sports Star of the Year award.

The trio have been celebrated for their remarkable achievements over the previous year.

Agyemang was instrumental as the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the first time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a record-breaking innings.

Littler won the award in 2024 after his breakthrough year.

The three contenders were unveiled on a national radio breakfast show.

The 2025 recipient will be unveiled on the annual sports awards show on the 18th of December.

The event will be broadcast from 7 PM GMT.

Agyemang's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Football

Just three months after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a crucial and game-changing role in England's run to European Championship victory.

She was introduced as a substitute to score key tying goals in both the last eight and last four matches.

Her incredible contributions led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.

Subsequently, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the best young player in Europe.

She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.

Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.

"To be named a finalist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is an honour," said Agyemang. "Thank you to God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my family, coaches, team-mates and fans."

Littler's Profile

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

The year started for Littler in sensational style as - at just 17 years old - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.

And he wasn't finished there - his win in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the first time.

At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, breaking the previous record.

"Earning a spot on the shortlist for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a special memory for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."

The Cricket Sensation

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and rose to fame with an extraordinary and record-breaking innings in August.

Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.

It also stands as the equal third-quickest women's T20 century in a premier tournament.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the run-scoring charts and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.

"I'm truly honoured to be nominated for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "It means a great deal. I hope it encourages more girls to get into cricket."
